We’re living the dream.
Greece is an ancient sort of place and we have no problems turning back the clock a little and slowing down the pace a bit. We’re talking old school island-hopping, to mostly smaller off-the-beaten-track ports of call, in a 12-cabin motor-sailer that can get close-up and personal with the waterfront tavernas.
We’ve planned the itinerary to spend a few hours at sea each day, always with a stop for a quick dip in the stunning Ionian waters, but allow plenty of time for exploring ashore to discover the local colour and sit and sip a beer or glass of wine with the locals. It’s everything that’s great and authentic about the Greek islands. The only thing that’s different from the halcyon days of the seventies and eighties is that cabins have ensuite facilities and air-conditioning.
A cruise with social responsibility
As people whose livelihood is the sea and its shores, we have a philosophy of taking positive action wherever and whenever we can. This mostly manifests itself in two ways. Firstly we regularly drop anchor and go and clean up a beach, collecting the plastic flotsam and jetsam, bagging it and then disposing of it. Secondly, when it comes to meals on board, we always try and served organic food, locally sourced and freshly cooked. Our wine list is focussed on local wines.
We’re also focused on wellbeing – onshore we have three organised walking tours of Corfu Town, Parga Town and Preveza.
Cruise Itinerary
Day 1: Corfu
Welcome cocktails at 3.00 as you board then a cruise to Sivota Bay for a first swim. Welcome dinner on board.
Day 2: Lefkada (Lefkas)
Cruising south with the Albanian coastline off the port bow we drop anchor for a swim in a quiet bay. Back on board we have lunch whilst cruising up to the pretty village of Meganisi where we moor for the evening. Dinner ashore.
Day 3: Nydri-Atokos
Today we cruise to Nydri on Lefkada for lunch then head off to the private island of Atokos for a swim. BBQ on the beach for supper tonight.
Day 4: Parga
A rather wonderful little-known resort on the mainland coast, Parga is a beautiful old village with a delightful Venetian castle. Time to explore the beaches and architecture and take dinner ashore at a taverna of your choice.
Day 5: Antipaxos
A tiny island with very few inhabitants. Only about 30 people live here year-round, but in summer the beautiful beaches attract and wonderful sandy beaches washed by translucent waters. It’s all really rather Caribbean in feel.
Day 6: Paxos
Paxos is the antithesis of Antipaxos, a rather hedonistic sort of port with lots of waterfront bars and tavernas with yachts aplenty lined-up along the quayside at Gaios. There’s a bit of a born-again hippy vibe amongst the young and beautiful here. Dinner ashore tonight – the main square is a great place to sit and people watch.
Day 7: Corfu
We come full circle to Corfu, arriving mid-afternoon for our walking tour and souvenir shopping. It a lovely colourful place to visit. This evening we have the Captain’s farewell dinner.
Day 8: Corfu
Disembarkation after breakfast.
